Portal 2 in Two Minutes

I have little to no attention for video games. First, I’m just not a very competitive individual, so I’m never really motivated to score the theoretical winning touchdown or “kill” the theoretical opposition. Second, I’m not a fan of loud noises, bright flashes of light, or spinning around in circles, so the concept of living your world by an inverted joystick just isn’t appealing. This is why I applaud Mahalo’s latest endeavor in the video game arena – video game video summaries. Now I can know everything I need to know about a game in 120 seconds or less.
What’s the big deal about Portal 2?
So on that note, I’ve been asking people for the past week what the heck Portal 2 is all about (seriously, why is everyone talking about it?) and I’ve yet to receive a satisfactory or enlightening answer. I work at a company that pays 20+ people to play video games all day, so I figured that I’d have a decent answer to my queries by now. Surely I’m not the only person out there asking the basics, right?
What’s the gameplay like? Who are the main enemies? Does the game have any uber-awesome guns or power ups? Does stuff blow up? Is it sexually scandalous in any way? Naturally, these are the questions everyone asks of a new video game, and they’re questions easily and quickly answered in Mahalo’s video game summaries. Being at a phase in my life where I’m not exactly oozing with free time, I enjoy knowing what a game is all about before I commit the many potential hours/weeks/months it will take to complete said game.
My two-minute Portal 2 review (and your thoughts?)
After watching Mahalo’s summary video, I still have no idea A) what the heck is going on in the game, and B) why it’s so popular. Bland voiceovers, lame guns, a WTF is going on plot line … am I missing something here? I will gladly admit that I am undereducated on the game, and that I’m basing my impressions upon short form commercials and the below summary vid. So, can you convince me that this game is truly worthy of the hype behind its name?
